Connective Tissue Bodywork
The bones and muscles of the human body are held together by ligaments and tendons - collectively known as connective tissue. Many anatomists have noticed how connective tissue joins muscles and bones into continuous bands running along the length of the body. These bands, or lines, have been identified in a system known as Anatomy Trains. If a section of connective tissue becomes shortened or stretched from its normal length, the effect is transmitted along the corresponding Anatomy Trains line and can result in postural changes and muscle pain. For example, a change in the tendons of the foot can cause a shift in the pelvis, leading to low back pain.
Connective tissue bodywork starts with a postural assessment and continues with slow, deep work to address the tendons, ligaments and muscles. As with all of Spectrum Bodywork sessions, the emphasis is on the whole person as well as the entire body. Since a person's posture (stance) reflects their personality, care is taken to incorporate awareness of the personality into connective tissue sessions.
In order to obtain maximum benefits from this work, it is advised that you commit to a series of 10 sessions.

Visceral Manipulation
Internal organs in good health have physiologic motion, and any restriction to that motion will impair organ function. These restrictions can occur for a variety of reason, and are quite common. Fortunately, it is easy to restore the natural organ motion through visceral manipulation.
This work utilizes specific, gentle forces with the intention of restarting an organ's natural motion. Once the motion has been restarted, it is monitored to ensure that it continues. Usually this is the case. If not, other restrictions are located and treated.
